Forging the Future

Why Backing Apprentices Today Builds a Stronger Tomorrow

At Able Engineering, we believe that the future of British manufacturing depends on the investment we make today in the next generation of tradespeople. That’s why our Tradesperson Apprentice Scheme is more than just a training programme, it’s a long-term commitment to skills, people, and industry excellence.

Our five-year scheme gives young talent the chance to earn while they learn, gaining real experience in stainless steel fabrication alongside a nationally recognised NVQ Level 3 qualification in Welding & Fabrication. With structured, hands-on workshop training and weekly day release to college, apprentices benefit from both practical know-how and academic progression.

But what sets our programme apart is the environment we create. From day one, apprentices are supported by experienced tradespeople who mentor, guide, and champion them through every stage of their journey. We provide five structured pay increases to reward development milestones, ensuring each apprentice feels valued and motivated.

We know that the best tradespeople aren’t just skilled, they’re resilient, reliable, curious, and collaborative. Our scheme is designed to bring out those qualities, preparing apprentices not just for a job, but for a long and rewarding career.

At Able, we’re proud to be doing our part to tackle the UK’s skills shortage by creating clear, supported pathways into the industry. Because investing in apprentices isn’t just about our workshop today, it’s about building a stronger, smarter, more sustainable future for engineering tomorrow.
