Reverse-Engineered Protein Extraction System
This project is a strong example of Able Engineering’s ability to take on highly specialised and unusual manufacturing challenges. The system shown is a bespoke protein extraction machine, developed with the customer after assisting them in reverse engineering a similar piece of equipment operating at one of their international sites.
Designed for Continuous High-Temperature Operation
The machine is designed to operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, at temperatures exceeding 300°C.
At the center of the vessel is a hollow helical screw mixer, which is also filled with thermal oil to maximise the available heating surface area and improve heat transfer throughout the process.
Built to Withstand Constant Cyclic Loading
One of the most demanding aspects of the design is the operation of the internal mixer. The direction of the impellers reverses every 7–9 seconds, placing the vessel and its components under significant and repeated cyclic loading.
Every element of the system therefore had to be carefully considered to accommodate thermal expansion, continuous movement and prolonged operation at high temperatures.
Complexity Engineered into Every Detail
With high temperatures, moving components, thermal oil circulation and continuous cyclic forces all working together, this was a particularly complex piece of machinery to engineer and manufacture.
Careful consideration was given to every aspect of the system to ensure the finished machine could operate reliably under demanding process conditions.
Bespoke Engineering Not an Off-the-Shelf Approach
This is exactly the type of project Able Engineering takes great pride in delivering. We’re not limited to standard fabrication. When a customer needs a genuinely bespoke solution, we have the engineering knowledge, manufacturing capability and experience to help turn an initial concept (or even an existing machine) into a fully realised piece of equipment.
A complex build, a unique challenge, and one we’re very proud to have delivered.
